ELDER
HOUSING
Downtown
Danbury, CT
A
downtown location for elder housing makes a lot of sense.
The target population for apartments of this type consists
largely of longtime residents of the surrounding area.
A convenient site near to doctor's offices and shopping
is desirable in order to attract this group.
A recent construction addition to central Danbury, CT
is this modern Elder Housing facility. This building
consists of 72 apartments on four levels with a common
kitchen area and a laundry room. The location is just
a half block from Danbury's Main Street.
One
of the prime considerations for new construction of
elder housing is the comfort level in the individual
living units.
This
mandates separate heating equipment in each apartment
and with New England's winter weather the preferred
fuel is natural gas. This Danbury facility has gas-fired
combo heating/domestic hot water systems for each apartment
to provide individual comfort and economy.
The
mechanical contractor used TracPipe for the individual
natural gas runs to drastically cut his installation
time and keep the construction on schedule. He completed
the gas-piping phase in one-fifth of the time estimated.
